Levine Museum of the New South Star Volunteer of the Month

Ms. Lynda Walker is a long-time supporter of Levine Museum of the New South, in fact, you might have spotted her lovely face in our promotional materials and on the College Street displays on our building. 15 years ago, Ms. Walker moved to Charlotte from New York after losing her husband. To learn more about her new home city, she came to Levine Museum of the New South. She found the Museum so informative and unique that her visits became part of her weekly routine.
She was quickly approached to become a docent, and loves sharing local history with young people as well as “receiving new insights from those adults who have lived it.” Ms. Walker chooses to support the Museum not just because “it depicts history in the core exhibit, but continually has excellent exhibits that are reflective of the “New South.” She says that volunteering at the Museum gives her satisfaction that she “is giving back a little,” but the joy and encouragement Ms. Walker gives to the Levine staff and the community is enormous.
