The Future of the New South Begins Here
We’re thrilled to announce we are set to acquire 1800 South Boulevard in Charlotte’s vibrant South End. The site will serve as the new home of Levine Museum of the New South.
This 0.57-acre site allows us to expand our exhibitions, events, cultural celebrations, and educational programs, positioning us as an essential cultural hub for our community. We remain dedicated to fostering community connections and inspiring civic engagement through our shared history, connecting the past to the future to realize the promises of a new South.

“Our new home in South End will deepen our impact as a place where people gather, connect, and belong. At Levine Museum, history, dialogue, and culture come together to encourage active participation in shaping a New South story that is still being written and offers a more just and equitable future for all who call this region home.”
– Dr. Richard Cooper, President and CEO, Levine Museum of the New South
Our Vision for the Future
So much excitement surrounds the opportunity to bring cultural depth, civic dialogue, and a sense of shared belonging to the heart of South End. As Charlotte’s first industrial park, South End is an ideal home for Levine Museum because it embodies the story of the New South: rooted in industry, transformed by migration and growth, and continually reshaped by new ideas and communities. As one of Charlotte’s most dynamic districts, it offers unparalleled opportunities for connection, visibility, and engagement in a space that reflects both the region’s past and its future.
We’re equally thrilled to unveil a bold new space that isn’t just about displaying history; it also encourages visitors to live it, question it, and connect it with your own stories. A place that inspires action – a gathering spot where guests can explore, understand, and see themselves as part of the unfolding narrative of the New South.
We can’t wait to welcome you to this vibrant community hub! We’ll gather, connecting to our shared history and to each other in ways that inspire change and ignite action.
Our Commitment to Our Community
While we build this new gathering place, we continue to offer engaging storytelling and dialogue programs throughout the community and online.
As we look ahead:
- We stay dedicated to our mission of connecting the past to the future to realize the promises of a new South.
- We remain committed to and focused on creating new, engaging online and in-person experiences as we plan for the exciting future ahead.
- We will continue to keep history accessible, relevant, and impactful.
