We are excited to share our monthly recap, including exciting updates, important milestones, and more. Please take a moment to enjoy our highlights.

What an evening! We closed out our Civic Season programming with our Democracy Happy Hour, bringing people together for great conversations, good wine, and delicious food. Big thanks to Assorted Table for the wine and Orrman’s Cheese Shop for amazing bites.
From discussing civic participation to unpacking the meaning of “We the People.” every table was full of energy and ideas. We’re so glad you joined us to connect, reflect, and be part of the ongoing conversation about democracy.
Summer Field Trips with Levine Museum
We were thrilled to welcome middle school scholars from Freedom School Partners for Brooklyn Reimagined, a two-part program exploring the history and legacy of Charlotte’s historic Brooklyn neighborhood. On July 1st, students participated in a powerful walking tour, where they learned about the vibrant community that once stood in the heart of uptown Charlotte.
Their curiosity, thoughtful questions, and engagement made the day a true success. The program concluded on July25th with student presentations that reflected their research, creativity, and personal reflections. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and inspired by their voices.
Thank you to Freedom School Partners for a meaningful collaboration!
Collections Corner
Levine Museum of the New South Collections
The Levine Museum has several items in its collections that document the foodways of Charlotte and the surrounding region. Betty Feezor was a famous television personality who starred on the Betty Feezor Show. The show focused on cooking, home decorating, and other home economics topics. It aired on Charlotte’s WBTV station from 1953 to 1977, weekdays at 1pm.
It was one of the most popular “women’s shows” in the United States.
