A perfect pick-me up for a Tuesday night! Spend your weeknight surrounded by live music, good energy, and community. Join us for Southern Accents, an upbeat night of soul, jazz and rhythm celebrating Black History Month, featuring the beloved local band, A Sign of the Times.

This event promises a captivating journey through historical and cultural highlights expressed through rhythm, song and storytelling, led by trombonist and composer, Tyrone Jefferson alongside vocalist, Toni Tupponce.

Enjoy dancing to songs like, “Jump, Jive & Wail” by Louis Prima, singing along to “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green, reflecting to “Grandma’s Hands” by Bill Withers, and finding inspiration in “Ella’s Song” by Sweet Honey in the Rock. Let A Sign of the Times guide you on a musical journey.

A Sign of The Times preserves the legacy of the African Diaspora through music, dance, and spoken word. They educate, inspire, and unite communities with powerful performances and cultural programs. Join them in celebrating history, resilience, and the power of artistic expression!

Toni Tupponce is the lead vocalist and Program Director for the nonprofit A Sign of The Times of the Carolinas, where she uses her voice—on stage and off—to preserve and celebrate the legacy of the African Diaspora. A respected vocal stylist, Toni has become a staple in Charlotte’s cultural and music scene. She was named one of Charlotte Magazine’s “50 Most Interesting People” and recognized for having the “Sexiest Voice in Charlotte.”

Beyond performance, Toni is a lyricist, writer, and dynamic speaker on issues of social justice, cultural equity, and community empowerment. She is also the founder of Tupponce Enterprises II, Inc., a Charlotte-based consulting firm specializing in planning, facilitation, and training.

With every note and every word, Toni continues to elevate stories, connect communities, and use her artistry as a force for change.
