Let’s Explore Together
We are partnered with Made By Us, The New York Historical and history museums across the country to celebrate Civic Season, a nationwide experience to understand our past and shape the future, from Juneteenth to July 4th.
Check out our celebrations below!
Juneteenth
We joined the Juneteenth Festival of The Carolinas celebration on June 14 and June 15 in Plaza Midwood. Visitors were able to stop by our booth to explore community history and enjoy giveaways while experiencing the festival full of performances, art, food, and so much more.
A Slice of History
Our first Slice of History trivia event, held at The Market at 7th Street on June 17, was a great success. More than 100 attendees joined us during their lunch hour to participate in a lively and engaging trivia game focused on Charlotte’s rich history.
Guests enjoyed complimentary pizza from Geno D’s while testing their knowledge of the city’s neighborhoods, influential figures, and cultural milestones. We extend our sincere thanks to all who participated and helped make the event such a memorable and well-received experience.
Democracy Happy Hour
We closed out our Civic Season programming with our Democracy Happy Hour, on June 30, bringing people together for great conversations, good wine, and delicious food. Big thanks to Assorted Table for the wine and Orrman’s Cheese Shop for amazing bites.
From discussing civic participation to unpacking the meaning of “We the People.” every table was full of energy and ideas. We’re so glad you joined us to connect, reflect, and be part of the ongoing conversation about democracy.
What is Civic Season?
The 250th anniversary of signing the Declaration of Independence is coming in 2026. It’s a critical time to ponder – what are your hopes for the future of America? Who do we want to be a year from now? 10 years from now? 100?
Now is your chance to make your voice heard. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share your vision for the future of America.
