This project tells the story of Charlotte’s Brooklyn neighborhood, once one of the largest and most vibrant Black communities in the Carolinas.
Displaced by urban renewal, its memory lives on through its community members.
Listen to Charlotte-based spoken word artist and poet Hannah Hasan’s piece about Brooklyn.
We offer guided group experiences to K-12 and adult groups using this project.
