Levine Museum of the New South was established as a history museum dedicated to tell everyone’s story. For the past 35 years, we have used exhibitions and programs to tackle some of today’s most pressing issues in historical context and hosted celebratory gatherings to honor and learn about Charlotte’s diverse communities.
Our goal has always been to deepen understanding, foster empathy, and inspire action toward a better future. Now, we take a moment to celebrate the collective impact we have made together!
For 35 years
We’ve been Charlotte’s trusted storyteller and keeper of history: a dynamic hub where history and community intersect.

For 35 years
Hundreds of thousands have gathered with us through dynamic experiences to deepen their understanding of the people and places that have shaped this vibrant city and region.

We have been reminded of the power of storytelling to inspire curiosity, build empathy, motivate action, and create community.

None of this would be possible without you, our supporters, partners, donors, and friends.
Stay connected as we announce our upcoming celebratory events and share our highly anticipated announcement about our new home! Follow us on our social media channels as we celebrate 35 years of the Levine Museum with 35 weekly stories that highlight our journey to the present.
We’re grateful for you for walking with us for 35 years and hope you’ll continue this journey for 35 more!
