Let’s Explore Together
In partnership with Made By Us and history museums across the country, Civic Season is a national moment to understand our past and shape the future—from Juneteenth to July 4th. This year’s theme, “A summer of shaping what comes next,” invites communities to reflect on the evolving meaning of democracy, freedom, and civic participation.
Check out our programming below!
Juneteenth Festival

Find us on June 20 at the Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas in Plaza Midwood. Led by Catalyst Fellow Sarah Nti, her interactive booth invites visitors—particularly young people, to engage with history, connect with community organizations, civic leaders and elected officials, and explore opportunities for civic engagement. All within a vibrant festival filled with performances, art, and food.
A Slice of History

Take a lunch break with us on June 24 at The Market at 7th Street for a lively and interactive trivia experience. Enjoy complimentary pizza from Geno D’s while testing your knowledge of Southern history and culture in a fun, welcoming environment.
Community Voices on Health Equity & Blood Drive

Join us on June 27 at our new home at 1800 South Blvd. for a program led by Catalyst Fellow Mandy Williams. This blood drive, in partnership with OneBlood, brings together residents, healthcare professionals, and students to explore health access and equity in Charlotte.
Democracy Happy Hour

Our annual Democracy Happy Hour returns on July 1 at The Market at 7th Street. Enjoy wine from Assorted Table and bites from vendors on site, while engaging in conversations on the meaning of “We the People.” Connect with neighbors, share perspectives, and be part of an ongoing dialogue about democracy.
What is Civic Season?

An invitation to all community members to answer one central question: What is your wish for the future of the United States?
The 250th anniversary of signing the Declaration of Independence it’s a critical time to ponder – what are your hopes for the future of America? Who do we want to be a year from now? 10 years from now? 100?
