Join us at Levine Museum of the New South for an evening of dialogue and exploration around The History of Latino Immigration in Charlotte.

Panelists will include: 

  • Dr. Heather Smith, Professor and Fellow of Levine Scholars Program at UNC Charlotte. Smith's immigration based research has focused on exploration of the causes, processes and implications of Hispanic "hyper-growth" in Charlotte and the broader US South.

  • Jose Hernandez-Paris, Executive Director for the Latin American Coalition, is dedicated to educating Latino immigrant newcomers, celebrating hispanic culture and advocating for the underserved segments of the population.

  • Dr. Claire Schuch has worked closely with Latino immigrants to enhance healthcare, education and labor market access to promote a more inclusive Charlotte.

The conversation will be led by Dr. Willie Griffin, Levine Museum's staff historian.
