Beloved Charlotte food writer Kathleen Purvis from the Charlotte Observer returns to Levine Museum to tell tales of whiskey, stills, and more. The focus of her new book Distilling the South is not the moonshine runners of yore — though they’ll get mentioned — but rather the current boom in craft liquor production. She’ll bring along a maker of “legal moonshine,” George Smith (he says that’s his real name) from Copper Barrel Distillery in North Wilkesboro.
The program includes a Southern buffet dinner by Mert’s Heart and Soul. Hosted by community historian Dr. Tom Hanchett Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.
