New South for the New Southerner | Camp Greene Lost and Found

  • Levine Museum of the New South 200 E. 7th Street Charlotte, NC 28202 (map)

100 years ago Charlotte’s huge Camp Greene made history as an Army training facility for World War I. How was it created? What happened to its lands after the war? The answers provide a fascinating window into the neighborhoods of Charlotte’s west side. Charlotte native Rickey Hall, of the West Boulevard Coalition, joins scholar Mike Moore to share pathbreaking new research. Hosted by community historian Dr. Tom Hanchett.

All New South for the New Southerner programs will be hosted by retired Levine Museum historian Dr. Tom Hanchett. Each program is $20 for non-members (25% discount for members) and includes program, a Southern chicken dinner from Mert’s Heart and Soul, and a cash bar. Space is limited, reservations required.
