New South for the New Southerner | Unsung Civil Rights Pioneers

New South for the New Southerner | Unsung Civil Rights Pioneers
Tuesday, September 18, 2018
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Long before Martin Luther King Jr’s era, Charlotte-based Trezzvant Anderson organized protests that integrated the city's Post Offices and wrote national newspaper articles that stirred the fires of civil rights activism. Dr. Willie Griffin, new staff historian at Levine Museum, shares discoveries from his book-in-progress on Anderson’s impressive impact locally and nationally. It will change the way you think of the civil rights movement. Hosted by Community Historian Dr. Tom Hanchett.

All New South for the New Southerner programs will be hosted by retired Levine Museum historian Dr. Tom Hanchett. Each program is $20 for non-members (25% discount for members) and includes program, a Southern chicken dinner from Mert’s Heart and Soul, and a cash bar. Space is limited, reservations required.
