SUMMARY:Support is a Verb: Entrepreneurship and Collective Success
DESCRIPTION:Entrepreneurial success is often celebrated as the result of individual determination and hard work. Yet behind every thriving business, creative endeavor, or community initiative is a network of people, institutions, and supporters who help make that success possible.\nJoin us for a community conversation inspired by the ideas explored in No One Is Self-Made by Dr. Key Hallmon featuring local creative entrepreneurs Alvin C. Jacobs, Jr. (nationally recognized photographer and image activist), Scott Tynes-Miller (owner and manager of Troubadour Booksellers), and Setu Raval (Director of Programs & Strategy, Charlotte Is Creative).\n \nRegister\n \nBring your questions and stories as we explore:\nWhere is Charlotte doing a good job of building an ecosystem for creatives and entrepreneurs, and where are we still asking individuals to figure things out on their own?\nWhat’s the difference between running a successful business and building a business that becomes part of the community around it?\nWhat could a village-style ecosystem look like in Charlotte and what role can each of us play in building it?\nCharlotte is known for it’s rapid growth but historically the opportunities for the people living here have not. How has the struggle for socioeconomic progress impacted us and how we show up to support our local ecosystems?\nAnd this conversation isn’t just for entrepreneurs and organizations.  It’s for anyone who wants to better understand how we can support the people, ideas, and businesses that help our communities thrive.\nJoin the conversation and let’s explore what it looks like to turn support into action.\nRegistration is free, *donations are encouraged (suggested donation $10.00)\n*all donations support the continued operations of the Levine Museum of the New South\n \nRegister\n \nParking Details:\nParking for Levine Museum is available at the garage located at 110 East Blvd ($5 after 5PM). Additional street parking and parking lots are also within a short walk of the museum.\nThe East/West light rail station is just a few steps away!\n \nUpcoming Events feat. Dr. Key Hallmon:\nThis Community Conversation will serve as a prelude to the museum’s upcoming program featuring Dr. Key Hallmon and her work on collective entrepreneurship and community-centered success.\n \nSept. 16 | Workshop with Dr. Hallmon\n\nMove from conversation into practical thinking/action.\n\n \nSept. 16 | An Evening with Dr. Hallmon\n\nGo deeper with Dr. Key Hallmon and No One Is Self-Made.\n\n \n
