Admission and Chaperones
Students: $3
CMS students (during the school year) $1
All chaperones and bus drivers complementary.
We require one chaperone per every ten students.
Limit 50 children per tour.
Carolina Communities
Elementary students
Students explore the life of children throughout New South history from Carolina cotton farms to the Piedmont textile mills.
NCSOS goals:
- Grade 3 - 1.02, 2.01, 2.02, 2.03, 3.01, 3.02, 5.07
- Grade 4 - 3.01, 3.02, 4.03, 4.05, 7.02
Exploring the New South
Middle School Students
Focus on social, economic, and political changes in the Carolina Piedmont from 1865 through today. Emphasis on Reconstruction, the Textile Industry, and the Civil Rights Movement.
NCSOS goals:
- Grade 8 - 4.05, 5.01, 5.03, 5.04, 5.05, 7.01, 7.02, 7.03, 7.04, 7.05, 8.02, 9.02
New South Change and Conflict
High School Students
Change and conflict have shaped the New South from 1865 through today. Students learn and discuss challenges during Reconstruction, the rise of textile mills in the early 20th century, and the Civil Rights Movement.
NCSOS goals:
- US History - 3.04, 5.01, 5.02, 5.03, 7.03, 7.04, 9.04, 11.02, 11.03, 11.05, 12.04, 12.05
Tours can be customized to meet the specific goals of each class.
