Nowhere | Now Here
Created by UNC Charlotte's Victoria Byers who worked with Levine Scholars and 15 students of Mexican and Honduran descent, this series of photographs depicts the lives and relationships of a community of Hispanic immigrants in small-town North Carolina. Working closely with the community for more than five years, Byers built trust, formed strong relationships, and witnessed the trials they face living in an unwelcoming town and society. This series features powerful images of the people who have needs and dreams, offering insight into the community, their daily lives, the interactions of the children, and the relationships between their communities.
Nowhere | Now Here will be on display in the balcony galleries September 24, 2016 through February 26, 2017.
