Explore Charlotte!
In Spring 2008, new wayfinding signs appeared throughout Uptown Charlotte.
Funded by the City of Charlotte, they direct drivers and walkers to cultural facilities, transit stations, parking, and more.
The project planners at the Charlotte Department of Transportation asked Levine Museum of the New South to help create wayfinding panels about Uptown history. This exhibition conveniently gathers all of those history wayfinding panels in one place.
Four signs introduce the stories of Charlotte's original four Wards. Thirty-three smaller panels direct pedestrians to landmark buildings and sites.
Look for the yellow star on each panel's map, indicating the location of the wayfinding sign.
Take a walk! Explore Uptown! Discover history!
